Madeleine Bourdages

MA, BMT, MTA

Maddie is a piano instructor and accredited, clinical music therapist based out of her home studio in Squamish, BC. Maddie has over 15 years experience teaching piano and is a fun, energetic and caring educator. For the past 9 years Maddie has also worked as a music therapist, providing group and individual music therapy sessions to individuals of all ages and abilities in care homes, hospitals, int the community and out of her home studio. Maddie uses music therapeutically to engage, challenge and inspire individuals and to provide them with the tools to overcome barriers and reach goals.


Maddie took piano lessons throughout her childhood and teen years, then studied classical piano at the Vancouver Community College School of Music. She obtained her bachelor degree in music therapy from Capilano University in 2011. In 2016, Maddie completed a master's degree in Gerontology, through Simon Fraser University. As part of her thesis, Maddie conducted a qualitative study looking at the influence of group music therapy on residents with dementia living in care homes. 

 

BIO

Maddie grew up in Chilliwack BC.  She now lives in Squamish with her husband and their two young daughters and two elderly cats. Maddie loves the outdoors, especially hiking, climbing, and biking. She also enjoys making and listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and travelling.  Maddie is vegetarian and loves to cook and bake delicious goodies.
